Aton & Amide was born when musicians, Sara Picavet and Benjamin Glorieux met. Both had won bursaries from the Fondation Belge de la Vocation, in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Their common desire to serve as the link between composers and listeners and to be anchored in the modern world whilst interpreting major works of the past and present, led them to create Aton & Armide. In this programme they look at the almost diabolical relationship between Clara Wieck-Schumann, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms – symbolized by their works and a piece by Heinz Holliger.
In addition to this are excerpts from Twenty Contemplations on the Infant Jesus for piano by Oliver Messiaen, and Orion by Toru Takemitsu.
