Time magazine claimed the British historian Timothy Garton Ash was among the 100 most influential people in the world. A professor in European studies at Oxford University and at Stanford, he also writes a weekly political column for The Guardian. He has also written several books about contemporary history, including his most recent Facts are Subversive, a collection of essays examining the major events of the last decade. In 'The File', republished for the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, he describes his experiences with East Germany’s Stasi. Annelies Beck will talk with him about Europe since 1989.
