Rail 5: Rendez-vous with Flagey

Historically, piano and guitar rarely meet. Indeed, some argue that the reunion of these two highly harmonic instruments creates a difficult alchemy. And yet, it’s an alchemy that works – think of the magnificent duo made up of Jim Hall and Bill Evans (Undercurrent) – the harmonic resonances, multiplied, reaching the very sources of musical inspiration. With their customary musical audacity and acuity, the two musicians will take on the challenge unflinchingly.

'I Trionfi di Petrarca'

Studio 4

This concert will take us to the 14th and 16th centuries and to present times. Erudite Italian humanist poet Petrarch’s often-imitated text from 1354 explores the delicious torments of his unconditional and platonic love for Laure de Sade. ‘I Trionfi’ is an allegorical poem, a spiritual testament and Petrarch’s last work in colloquial language.
