Khalid K
'Around the World in Eighty Voices'

Studio 1

(age: 5+) - Without words, singer/musician Khalid K takes us on a crazy voyage around the world. Equipped with nothing other than a mike, three samplers and a few soundtracks featuring incredible voices, he succeeds in creating a sequence of exotic scenes: a battle between cowboys and Indians, an African party, a Tibetan temple, a jungle, a jazz orchestra and a disco…and you really feel you’re there. This show full of strange and unexpected sounds is gently humorous and suitable for all generations.

'Anatomy of a murder' - Blue notes and crime movies

Studio 5

Otto Preminger - USA – 1959 – fiction – b/w– 160’ – OV – Dutch and French subtitles

Based on a true story, Anatomy of a murder is about a murder trial and the workings of the American justice system via the relationship between a lawyer and the accused, the chief witness (a woman raped by the victim), the judge and the prosecutors. Nothing is quite as it seems, and the viewer is left wondering about the innocence of the accused. James Stewart shines as the attorney for the defence and the outstanding soundtrack is by Duke Ellington, who makes a brief appearance in the film.

'Double Take' - Documentary

Studio 5

Johan Grimonprez - B / D / NL – 2009 – documentaire – zwart-wit + kleur / n&b + couleur – 80‘ – OV / VO – NL OND / STT FR

A portrait of Alfred Hitchcock through his appearances in his own films, and with the participation  of several look-alikes. Johan Grimonprez is an anthropologist, and his film is somewhere between documentary and fiction, looking at our relationship to images and the media and their influence on our self-awareness and our understanding of the world. Written by award-winning British novelist Tom McCarthy, the film uses the public images of Hitchcock as a starting-point for a socio-political meditation.

Peter Strickland - ROM/GB/H – 2009 – fictie / fiction – kleur / couleur – 82’ – VO / OV – NL OND / STT FR

First film by Briton Peter Strickland who sets his unnerving story in idyllic and wild Romanian countryside. The titular heroine sets out with her son sets out in search of the men who raped her 10 years earlier.
