Eric Pauwels - B – 2009 – documentaire – couleur + n&b / kleur + zwart & wit - 180’ (+ entracte 10’) – VO / OV FR
This film is like a depiction of the mental universe of the director. Lyrical, elegiac and didactic, it uses Ulysses as the emblem for various imaginary journeys, some dreamt, others read, some filmed, others not. Like a Bayeux tapestry of the soul, this is a film of the films that Pauwels made and didn’t make but that haunt his imagination, the first person narration adding to the gentle, evanescent poetic mood. The novels of Borges feel close. With : Jean Rouch, Boris Lehman
