Michael Cacoyannis adapted this Greek tragedy by Euripides two years before directing his blockbuster Zorba the Greek. Electra (the splendid Irene Papas) witnesses the brutal murder of her father Agamemnon by her mother Clytemnestra, and hatches a plan for revenge.
