‘The Trunk from Circassia’ is the story of an encounter that turns everything upside down, and gives rise to musical dreams and poetic laughter. Gondwana’s acrobats and musicians take their audiences through worlds where reality and dream happily co-exist. The music at the heart of this voyage is played on traditional instruments from Peru, Africa and Europe. Not quite circus, not quite world music, this is a performance that will appeal to both young and old.

Manu Riche / Renaat Lambeets - B – 2009 – documentaire – kleur / couleur - 75’ - VO / OV NL - STT FR
Musical documentaries form a genre in which Belgium holds a proud position. Tom Barman, frontman of the Antwerp band dEUS for one, is a film-lover who directed the cult movie Any way the wind blows (2003). For two years, Manu Riche and cameraman Renaat Lambeets filmed him on and off stage in the hell hole that is Forest National, the Werchter festival site and world tours, but also at home with his mother and sister. This is fly-on-the-wall approach, and the tempo is frenzied, spontaneous and, naturally further heightened by dEUS’s music.

Paul Verhoeven - NL – 1973 – fiction / fictie – couleur / kleur – 107’ – VO / OV NL – STT FR
A crudely explicit story of love and death, Turkish Delight is the first collaboration between Paul Verhoeven and Rutger Hauer, who worked together on five films before making it to separate stardom in the US. This film is miles away from Hollywood, with its mixture of provocative underground realism and crazy romanticism. A painter falls in love with a rich woman, Olga, in Love Story revisited by Andy Warhol. Unique in its genre, the film glides along to the sound of Toots’ harmonica.
