After a scrumptious family brunch, children aged 2 to 12 are invited to for a musical workshop while parents attend a concert of classical music with the Brussels Philharmonic.
Harrowing music, enchanting music, magical music ... Mahler in the spotlight, with his final symphony and the lyricism of the ‘Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen’, the wonderful chromatic harp of Debussy, followed by one of the most chiseled scores of Ravel, the choreographic symphony ‘Daphnis and Chloe ‘.

On this day children are the heros. After a warm welcome, the kids will be introduced to the magical world of Beethoven, whilst the parents listen to Bruch’s First Violin Concerto in Studio 4. During the break, all children visit the concert hall and meet with the conductor. Then, the oldest ones (9-12 years) join their parents and listen to Beethoven’s Eroica. Meanwhile the little ones get some more musical entertainment by our enthusiastic animators. We finish of course with an heroic goodbye!

A chamber version of Camille Saint-Saëns’s ‘Carnival of the Animals’ with some of the country’s best musicians playing for its young audience. In the 1960s, French actor Francis Blanche wrote a series of short texts introducing the animals evoked in Saint-Saëns’s suite of 14 short pieces.
Hand shadow artist Philippe Beau will reveal his skills at the front of the stage, while the instruments themselves – when they are not being played – turn into animals. In charge of it all is youthful director Sybille Wilson.
