Haydn, Beethoven & Brahms
Two more times this season, we invite the exceptional pianist and artist in residence Paul Lewis to Studio 4. Again, he is inspired by the shared emotions in the piano works of Brahms, Haydn and Beethoven. Starting from the profound and imaginative character pieces by Brahms’ Opus 116, he contrasts Brahms’ music with Haydn’s first and last keyboard sonatas, and with the improvisational and resourceful ‘Kleinigkeiten’ of Beethoven.
