What would the German jazz scene be without Julia Hülsmann? Germany’s ‘grande dame’ has been affiliated with ECM ever since 2008 and produces one successful album after another. Her melodious and minimalistic style account for her nickname as ‘the poet of German jazz’, surfing effortlessly between jazz standards, pop songs, lieder and theatrical music. For the Belgium premiere of their latest album Not Far From Here, Hülsmann and her usual trio are joined by saxophonist Uli Kempendorff (Field, Yellow Bird, …).
