For Cathy is the latest solo album by Sarah Defrise. Her international career was launched in 2020 by her role as a Teenager in Jean-Luc Fafchamps' opera Is this the end? at La Monnaie in Brussels. The album is a tribute to the great American mezzo-soprano Cathy Berberian (1925-1983), to whom avant-garde composers such as John Cage or Luciano Berio dedicated music. Together with pianist Stephane Ginsburgh, she looks back in time and evokes the atmosphere of renewal and experimentation of the time.
