Karski Quartet

Not yet heard of the Karski Quartet? Then it’s high time. This young quartet from Brussels, founded in 2018, combines technical precision with a fresh and energetic playing style. They have been guests at Flagey several times and now return with a surprising and layered program. They open with W polu lipeńka, a traditional Polish folk song full of melancholy, sparklingly arranged by Ignacy Zalewski and the quartet itself. This is followed by the powerful and expressive String Quartet No. 4 by Grażyna Bacewicz, the first female Polish composer of international fame. Debussy’s impressionistic Quartet in G closes the concert with refined dialogues and dreamy sound colors.
