For the Renaissance artist, melancholia was a source of inspiration. Sufis are also known for their use of poetry and music in their search for a path to heaven. In this concert English lute music and Arabic melodies extend their hands to each other. The programme includes works by John Dowland, Robert Johnson, Nicolas Lanier, Alfonso Ferrabosco, Moneim Adwan and Thomas Smetryns.
