Tibetan Plateau, the highest and the once most geographically active area of the world, has been made by the remote ancient orogenic movement, leaving a splendid and magnificent scene with a wide and rich biodiversity. In this district, men, in order to live and protect their families, have developed a wonderful and miraculous balance with the great Mother Nature.

What we are trying to depict for you here is the relationship between people living in Tibetan Plateau and the nature. We will focus on the incredible and unique nature state, continuous and erect snow mountains, rich and productive land steps, cyclical and round stream, soil and nature, animals, plants and men coexisting and surviving together on earth.

Well, actually it’s the high elevation and harsh nature environment that have edified people to respect and sustainably utilize natural resources. And it’s this cruelty that has inspired and motivated people to take responsibility of the family and cultivate a pure and noble mind.

We will observe how this kind of relationship between people and nature has been formed though some stories and try to make an inquiry about how people’s personality and wisdom have functioned. You will not only see the rich and broad landforms, living condition of various rare wild animals, but also witness the lifestyle with vivid nationality and characteristics, all these contributing to one core – mind.

Roof of the World is a geographic concept, but it conveys a spiritual concept all the more. It’s the roof of our mind that has been surviving on the high Plateau and built a sense of honor and well-being for the innermost being.

青藏高原，全球海拔最高的地区，也是地球运动曾经最活跃的地带，远古的造山运动，形成了壮观的痕迹，巨大的落差，也产生了丰富多样的生物类别。在这个区域，人类为了个体的生存与家族的幸福，与大自然之间，逐渐达成了一种令人惊叹的平衡。

本片描绘的，是青藏高原上人与自然的关系。青藏高原不可思议的独特风貌，绵延不绝的雪山、丰饶的大地阶梯、轮回往复的流水、泥土与自然，以及与天地共舞共生的动植物和人类，是本片的主要内容。

海拔高、自然环境严酷，反而造就了这里的人类，对环境的尊重，对自然有节制的利用；更激发了这里的人类，对家庭的责任感，对纯洁高尚的心灵的推崇。

本片试图通过一些故事，观察这种人和自然的关系是如何发生的，并着重表现人的品格和智慧，怎样在这些事件中起到作用。片中将展现青藏高原广阔丰富的地貌，也会呈现珍稀野生动物的生存状态，更会看到人们最具有民族气息的生

活方式，这些生活方式的核心，是心灵。

第三极虽然是一个地理概念，但在本片中，它更是一个精神概念，是心灵层面的第三极，是人类在高海拔地区生活中，内心世界呈现出的高尚感和幸福感。
