Queen Elisabeth Competition 2026: cello

The Queen Elisabeth Competition is recognised as one of the most prestigious and demanding music competitions in the world. For young violinists, pianists, singers and cellists aspiring to an international career, it serves as a true springboard. Remaining faithful to the project initiated by Eugène Ysaÿe and Queen Elisabeth, the Queen Elisabeth Competition continues to seek out complete musicians. What makes the Competition unique? A world-renowned jury, rigorous rules, unparalleled media coverage, and the warm enthusiasm of the Belgian public and the Royal Family.

After an exceptional and fully sold-out 2025 piano edition, the cello will be celebrated in 2026. At Flagey, we invite you to attend the following sessions:

• the first round, from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 May (at 3 pm & 8 pm);
• the semi-final, from Monday 11 to Saturday 16 May (at 3 pm & 8 pm);
• two recitals with laureates of the 2026 edition: Wednesday 3 & Thursday 4 June (8:15 pm).

Subscriptions for the first round and the semi-final will go on sale on Tuesday 3 February 2026. Tickets will be available from Tuesday 17 February 2026.

In 2026, we will proudly mark the 75^th anniversary of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, as well as the 150^th anniversary of the birthday of Queen Elisabeth and Pablo Casals. These milestones will be celebrated with fitting tributes - details to be announced soon.
