What can music make you see?

The Brussels Young Philharmonic brings together music by Wim Henderickx, Camille Saint-Saëns and Modest Mussorgsky in a concert built around images, stories and atmosphere.

The pieces are taken out of their usual order and placed together to create a journey through different moods and sounds.

The energy of Henderickx’s Skriet, the speed and sparkle of Saint-Saëns’ Rondo capriccioso, the dark humour of Danse macabre, and the many characters and scenes of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition each show a different side of what an orchestra can do.

The orchestra moves between light and dark, familiar and unexpected, quiet moments and powerful full sound, finding connections between pieces written more than a century apart.

The Brussels Young Philharmonic is a youth orchestra made up of young musicians from Brussels and beyond. They come together to play great orchestral music and, in this project, put familiar works alongside contemporary music in a new way.

Come see what these pictures sound like.
