From Bach to Harry Potter

From the dramatic opening of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue to the magical world of Harry Potter, the Brussels Cello Festival goes out with a bang in a closing concert filled with music you know and love. Belgium’s acclaimed cello octet O-Celli takes the audience on a whirlwind journey through Bach and Verdi, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Bernstein’s West Side Story and the unforgettable film music of John Williams—including Hedwig’s Theme and the soaring Flying Theme from E.T.

After the interval, the stage fills with cellos as Festival artists and young talents come together in the Brussels Cello Festival Orchestra. Villa-Lobos, Morricone’s beloved Gabriel’s Oboe, Márquez’s irresistible Danzón No. 2 and Elgar’s moving Nimrod lead to Blaise Déjardin’s playful Aquarela do Violoncelo. And for those listening especially closely, one final musical surprise awaits… how many familiar tunes will you recognise? A joyful, spectacular finale for seasoned concertgoers, first-time audiences and families alike.
