Algeria, June 1955. Khadidja leaves Kabylie to join her older brother Malek in Algiers. Following an altercation at the market, he is arrested by the police and Khadidja finds herself alone. Fortunately, Lyes, Ahmed and Philippe will do everything in their power to help her find Malek. From the rooftops of the Casbah, the four children set about investigating. Through the adventures of four young friends from different communities in Algiers, *Petite Casbah* tells the story, from a child’s perspective, of Algeria at the dawn of the War of Independence.
