One of the most versatile voices in Belgian jazz, saxophonist Toine Thys seeks out unexpected encounters to push the boundaries of his music. In Tokyo, he recently crossed paths with Japanese double bassist Motoi Kanamori, with whom he immediately felt a strong musical affinity. For their first album together, Ear of the Dragon, they form a quartet with two young talents from the Brussels jazz scene. At the piano, Brussels Jazz Festival 2026 festival artist Wajdi Riahi brings harmonic inventiveness, while Diogo Alexandre drives the music forward with his tight and adventurous drumming. With infectious energy, the quartet delivers resolutely acoustic jazz in which different musical worlds come together.
