Forty years after being found as a child wandering in a German forest, a man’s past suddenly rears its head at the mere mention of a word. Nr. 10 is the tenth feature film from an extraordinary filmmaker, Alex Van Warmerdam. Paradoxically, he is often credited with a recognisable “style”, yet his films never look the same. We could label them “black comedies”, but that is far too narrow a definition for this wild, brilliant and unexpected new work.
