Mattias De Craene feat. Black Koyo
What happens when contemporary music meets gnawa traditions? For this project, Mattias De Craene traveled to Morocco to explore local musical traditions and rituals up close and to collaborate with local musicians. Back in Brussels, he worked with the Brussels gnawa community – the largest outside Morocco – to deepen his impressions and ideas. Together with the Brussels gnawa group Black Koyo, an exciting dialogue emerges between tradition and experiment: earthy ritualism, ethereal sounds, and the dark edge that makes De Craene’s music unforgettable.
