Amadou, Ribot, Smith

For several years now, uncompromising experimentation has been at the heart of Liège-born, Brussels-based Farida Amadou’s work. Her idiosyncratic and intuitive approach to the bass is a perfect match for Marc Ribot and Ches Smith, two greats of the American experimental improvisation scene. For more than 40 years, Ribot has forged a versatile and unpredictable guitar sound shaped by punk, noise and avant-garde jazz. Equally adventurous is Ches Smith, whose wily and inventive drumming constantly pushes his fellow musicians to their limits. Together, the three build raw sound fields that embrace friction, somewhere between free jazz, noise and electroacoustic improvisation. However natural their connection may seem, their music remains impossible to predict.
