Ghent-based pianist and composer Orson Claeys is making a name for himself on the Belgian jazz scene with his refreshing personal sound. His debut EP Odyssey to Self (2024) explores his own musical style, engaging with other musical traditions such as stambeli, baroque, and hip-hop. He achieved his definitive breakthrough just one year later, when he won the first Brussels Jazz Vanguard Award at the Brussels Jazz Weekend. With influences ranging from modern jazz to pulsating hip-hop rhythms, Claeys weaves a rich tapestry of sounds and emotions. His music breathes adventure, always pushing the boundaries of jazz.
