Indian classical music forms the starting point of this exceptional double bill. While the Ragini Trio draws inspiration from the ragas and rhythms of South Indian music, Naïssam Jalal explores the spiritual richness of Hindustani music from North India. From different perspectives and traditions, both projects show how the dialogue between Indian music and jazz can lead to surprising sonic worlds.

Ragini Trio

The Ragini Trio of drummer Lander Gyselinck, saxophonist Nathan Daems, and double bassist Marco Bardoscia was born out of a shared fascination for Indian classical music and jazz. On their latest album 3 (2026, W.E.R.F. Records), this curiosity remains the starting point of their musical exploration. In the music of the Ragini Trio, two traditions meet, each exploring freedom and structure in its own way. Where jazz seeks freedom within structure, the raga seeks form within freedom. The trio moves precisely within the fertile space between the two. With virtuosity, energy, and an infectious sense of playfulness, the three musicians create a sonic world that feels layered, adventurous, and strikingly immediate.

Naïssam Jalal

For Naïssam Jalal, music begins with curiosity. The French-Syrian flutist, vocalist, and composer is known for her unique ability to build bridges between diverse musical traditions and to draw from them a new, personal sound each time. For her recent album Landscapes of Eternity, Jalal immersed herself in Hindustani classical music. A series of encounters and lessons during a months-long journey through northern India formed the basis of intimate and spiritual music that connects a deep bond with Indian tradition to a contemporary sensibility. Together with Indian and European musicians, she creates a sonic world in which musical exchange feels both natural and profoundly spiritual.
