Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai

Filmmaker Jim Jarmusch explores the boundaries of the samurai film in this movie set in New York, featuring a hip-hop soundtrack by RZA. The main character is the mysterious lone hitman Ghost Dog: a tall, heavy black man who moves with an almost magical lightness.

Ghost Dog, superbly played by Forest Whitaker, lives by the code of honour of the legendary Japanese samurai. When the mafia turns on him after years of loyal service, the stoic Ghost Dog retreats to the precepts of the samurai warriors.
