The action starts at the end of the First World War. Laurel is left behind when the armistice is signed and only found twenty years later. He looks up his former sidekick, Hardy, who has married in the interim. The reunion is, as to be expected with this pair, catastrophic. Misunderstandings, long strings of jokes and all manner of destruction befall these particularly hilarious Block Heads.
