This is a story of a village dying a slow death, swallowed up by the expansion of Antwerp’s port complex. Over a period of six years, Tom Fassert has filmed the exodus of local residents and the tearing down of empty homes. He has even filmed the very last house, belonging to Emilienne, an obstinate old woman unable to prevent the inevitable. Incredibly moving.
