The Peasants was adapted from the Nobel Prize-winning novel by Władysław Reymont. It is the second feature film from DK and Hugh Welchman, after the Oscar-nominated Loving Vincent. Originally shot in live-action, The Peasants was then hand-painted by more than ninety animators in four countries under the supervision of animation chief Piotr Dominiak.
