Pastoe
Design September
Pastoe, in other words, timeless furniture design with endless possibilities, eye for detail and high quality. Harm Scheltens, owner of Pastoe since 1984 and initiator of groundbreaking and innovative projects, lifts the veil on a 100-years-old furniture company.
Having an educational background in the esthetical and technical aspects of textile, Harm Scheltens set foot in commercial roles in the early of his career. In 1984 Harm became the Managing Director and owner of Pastoe. In this role he realized groundbreaking and innovative projects and ensured Pastoe to cooperate with a number of important and highly regarded interior designers, such as Shiro Kuramata, Shigeru Uchida, Maarten van Severen and Elisabeth Lux. Aside from his role with Pastoe, Harm founded in 1982 the Dutch Design Center, a joint presentation of prominent interior manufactures for the residential market, and has initiated ‘Utrecht Manifest’, the biennial for social design, supported by the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Utrecht University, a School of the Arts (HKU) and Pastoe.
