First round
All the candidates who have been successful in the video preselection process can take part in the first public round. They each perform works or parts of works that the jury selects from: the first movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven, a work of choice and four études (one by Chopin, one by Liszt, one by Ligeti and an étude of choice, written by another composer than Chopin, Liszt or Ligeti). The names of the 24 semi-finalists are announced on Saturday 10 May, after the last performance.
