Vagabunden Karawane (Vagabond's Band)

Led by the percussionist Christian Burchard, Embryo has been simmering an indefinable fusion from the beginning of the 1970s. Psychedelic jazz-rock mixed with non-Western influences, Embryo is also considered to be the most legitimate representation of "Krautrock", a fusion of disparate ingredients that together create an original and spicy dish. In September of 1978, Christian Burchard left with family and musicians in three old buses. It was a caravan on a journey over many months that traveled through Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran, India and Pakistan. Encountering many other cultures and many different ways of creating music, the caravan was accompanied by a film team with Werner Penzel.
