21:00 : Debate

What subjects and territories exist for Belgian film makers shooting in Belgium or elsewhere, or for foreign film makers who are established in Belgium?

The clash of images and of cultures. Frontiers and borders are disappearing to the point that we must ask ourselves whether Belgian documentary cinema can be defined by the location (the region, the country) where the film maker lives. Belgium : a pivotal place, cosmopolitan, from where we leave to where we return, a space for multiple territories, for the real and imaginary, a country of fragmented identities. This is a snapshot of a Belgium that is searching for its identity and fearful of its own destruction.

Regards sur le réel, 20 documentaires du XXe siècle

From Henri Storck (1929) to the 2000s, this collection presents 20 classic Belgian documentary films in French that have been released by Yellow Now as part of an initiative by the Cinémathèque of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. Bringing to life the most remarkable documentaries from the 20th century, the selection was made from a total of 1 200 works and some 200 documentarians.
