Ionut Cibotariu
For his first performance at Flagey, Romanian pianist Ionut Cibotariu takes the audience on a journey through three landmarks of the piano repertoire. In Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie, he searches poetically for an intimate, personal voice; Liszt elevates the instrument to new heights of dramatic power and virtuosity with his Sonata in B minor; and Rachmaninov makes the piano sing with lush lyricism in his Second Piano Sonata. “Music is more than a passion for me – it is my most sincere form of expression,” says Cibotariu, words that come vividly to life in this intense and personal recital.
