Flagey Academy

The youth choir Flagey Academy, under the direction of Zeno Popescu, presents a selection from Arvo Pärt’s Songs from Childhood. This unique repertoire consists of children’s songs and piano pieces that Pärt composed between 1956 and 1970 for theatre and animated films. Many of these works were until recently unknown and have been newly arranged by Tauno Aints and Pärt himself, with colorful instrumental accompaniment that highlights their childlike character. This music breathes simplicity and purity, magically bringing the world of children to life. As Arvo Pärt himself says, “In simplicity lies the deepest truth.”
