In this family concert, Zouratié Koné, master percussionist and ngoni virtuoso, presents a musical tribute to the power of cultural encounter. Raised in a family of griots, poet-musicians from West Africa, Koné learned from an early age to play traditional percussion and string instruments such as the djembe, doundoun, tama, kora, and ngoni. Riding a wave of African rhythms and melodies, he tells the story of his life in Africa and his first encounters with Europe. Together with Thomas Jakubczyk, who grew up between Gambia and Belgium and discovered West African music through griots, he creates a family performance at the crossroads of African and Western traditions, in which both retain their own identity.
