Aleksey Shadrin
“I want to share something very personal: how I feel the music.” With these words, Aleksey Shadrin reveals his intensity as a musician. The Ukrainian cellist won Fourth Prize at the 2022 Queen Elisabeth Competition and impressed with his profound musicality. He performs Gaspar Cassadó’s Suite for cello solo, full of Spanish rhythms and technical bravura, yet marked by a clarity inspired by Bach. Shadrin completes this concert with a rarely performed cello arrangement of the Chaconne from Bach’s Second Violin Partita.
Queen Elisabeth was born 150 years ago, a monarch with a warm heart for music and culture. Her name lives on in the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition, which has been launching leading musical talents for decades. We are celebrating this anniversary with a reunion that is already historic: ten of the most iconic laureates are gathering for one day at Flagey. They will fill the building with violin, cello, piano and singing, in various constellations.
