The Wind Rises [Kaze Tachinu]

Young Jiro draws wonderful aircraft and dreams of flying. However, his poor eyesight prevents him from becoming a pilot. After getting himself hired in the aeronautical department of a major Japanese aircraft manufacturer, his talent is soon spotted and he quickly becomes one of the greatest aircraft designers of the moment. The Kanto earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the TB epidemic and the outbreak of war in Japan all serve as a backdrop for stories of love and friendship of a man with a lasting passion for flying machines, who dedicated his whole life to them.
