Queer Reading: The Iron Giant
Brad Bird | Feature film | 12+
Joke D’Heer (they/them) is a doctor in media studies (Ghent University). Their readings are a way to (re)claim queerness in films that are not explicitly framed that way – exploring an alternative and subversive storyline. Through a queer lens, The Iron Giant tells the story of a boy and a robot who defy expectations and embrace difference.
The film analysis (in English) lasts approximately 20 minutes and will be followed by the screening of the film.
