L'Immense Festival Alerte à Molenbeek & Penser l'habitat comme un problème commun aux vivants
In the framework of the Immense Festival, we are offering two medium-length films on the issue of housing : Alerte à Molenbeek traces the journey of the ULS (Union des Locataires Sociaux) group, which, since its creation in 2022, has come together to question the gentrification taking place in their neighbourhood and to assert their right to decent housing. The film highlights the issues surrounding social housing in our municipality, the urgent challenges faced by vulnerable households and our commitment as residents to bring about change. Through testimonials and evocative images, we hope to spark a collective reflection on the importance of decent social housing for all.
Penser l'habitat comme un problème commun aux vivants, Matthias Förster : in a city like Brussels, marked by significant socio-environmental inequalities, Brussels' brownfield sites appear as sentinel territories, traversed by various practices involving plants, animals and humans. Faced with climate change and the housing crisis, these spaces foreshadow new ways of cohabiting. In this interview, Allan Wei, historian and researcher in urban ecology, calls for a genuine transformation of urban policies through the prism of Félix Guattari's three ecologies — environmental, social and psychic — in order to move away from speculative logic and reinvest in urban spaces as multi-species commons where new ways of living can be invented.
