Petits chanteurs de Strasbourg (Maîtrise OnR) / Laurent Khrâm Longvixay

Voices United !

Petits chanteurs de Strasbourg (Maîtrise OnR) with the participation of the Children’s and Youth Choirs of La Monnaie and the Flagey Academy

The children and young singers of the Maîtrise of the Opéra national du Rhin present a program exploring French music (Chansons by Arrieu, Les berceaux by Fauré) and Argentine music (Chaparrón by Di Giusto and Bibiloni). This gives way to “marble melodies” that traverse Western musical history through juxtaposition, superposition, and contrast:

  • Two melodies inspired by Celtic travels, composed by Enya, known worldwide: Caribbean Blue and Orinoco Flow
  • Still Bach, a quodlibet on Bach’s famous D-string air, combined with a traditional German song
  • I Believe, based on Bach’s textures, transformed into a Gounod-inspired prayer in dialogue with Elvis Presley
  • Canon for Peace, bringing together melodies from three languages and traditions—Arabic, Hebrew, and Latin—to express a universal wish for harmony

The program will also feature musical contributions from the Flagey Academy and the Children’s and Youth Choirs of La Monnaie.
