The adventures of two friends (a young narcoleptic prostitute and the son of the town mayor) and a few misfits gathered around a contemporary Falstaff. Borrowing its narrative structure from Shakespeare's Henry IV, this is an unusual film and one of Gus Van Sant's finest achievements.
