Aharon Appelfeld
A Writer's Europe
The world-renowned Aharon Appelfeld (1932) is the éminence grise of Israeli literature. He has written more than forty works of prose, almost all of which are set in the shadows of the Holocaust. The Story of a Life follows the improbable course of his own existence: his happy childhood in Ukraine before the war, the concentration camps, the confusion which followed, and a new life in Palestine.
Speaking to writer Joseph Pearce, Appelfeld recalls his life, work and the silence with which his ‘inexpressible’ experiences are met. An exclusive audience with one of the greatest authors of the 20th century.
