10:00 - Forlane 6 - Michele di Salle
IT – 2013 – 29’ – OV FR – SBT EN
Filmed in Crete, this is the story of a young French couple who live on a small, old sailing boat, the Forlane 6. Both are artists and scuba divers, and together they design and install underwater structures, whose evolution they record in photo.
10:40 - Rivières perdues - Caroline Bâcle
CA – 2012 – 72’ – OV FR – SBT EN
A trip down the lost rivers of numerous major cities around the world provides a novel view of urban worlds. In the past, hundreds of rivers crisscrossed our towns. Why did they disappear? And how? Could they one day return?
12:00 - Méditerranée, notre mer à tous - Michel Pitiot, Yann Arthus-Bertrand
FR – 2013 – 90’ – OV FR – SBT NL
The Mediterranean is more than a sea. It has been the birthplace of civilisations. And nevertheless, it now seems to be a constant fount of crises. To reconnect with this fascinating region, we need to look at an overview, which is exactly what this film does. It was filmed entirely via aerial photography under the direction of Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
13:45 - Desert Haze - Sofie Benoot
BE – 2014 – 110’ – OV EN – SBT FR/NL
The Far West of the US: a mythical, arid landscape, characterised by absolute nothingness – no water, no trees, no life, at least at first glance. Desert Haze tells the multiple stories of human life in the US desert. From astronauts training for their upcoming missions to Mars to Japanese country singers, from archaeologists looking for evidence of military testing to the mysterious death of John Wayne.
15:45 - Dreigende dieptes - Nicolas Koutsikas, Eric Nadler, Bob Cohen
FR – 2013 – 47’ – OV NL – SBT FR
A million tonnes of chemical weapons produced during the two world wars are lying on the seabed! Between 1917 and 1970, armies have dumped them in all the oceans. Deadly poisons which are still active leak out, threatening humans, fish, and the coastline. Solutions are hard to come by, but they do exist. As long as states are prepared to pay for them.
16:45 - Prosperous Mountain - Heidi C. Morstang
UK – 2013 – 16’ – OV EN – SBT FR/NL
With portraits of the inhospitable landscape of the Arctic winter, this film reflects on human efforts to collect, transport and conserve seeds at a global level. The Svalbard Global Seed Vault, a secure seed bank located in the permafrost inside an Arctic mountain, 130 metres above sea level, could symbolise our future existence.
17:00 - OdysSea - Jimmy Kets
BE – 2013 – 63’ – OV NL – SBT FR
Magnum photographers have a solitary existence. For his series Moments before the flood, Carl De Keyzer spent four years travelling the 120 000 km of European coastline which is at risk of being gradually reclaimed by the sea. Jimmy Kets accompanied Carl De Keyzer for a year on his demanding and lonely expedition.
