Something Must Break tells the love-story between two young men, one of them, Sebastian, is androgynous, and the other one, Andreas, is not gay. It is the two of them against the polished Swedish Ikea society. They dream to escape boredom and the risk of becoming what everyone else is. And then, there is also Ellie – the superwoman growing inside of Sebastian who Andreas loves and fears. Something Must Break is set in that Summer when everything happens, when both of the young men will choose paths that will define their lives forever. The director, Ester Martin Bergsmark, explores the complexity of being androgynous with a great sense of poetry and sensitivity.
