Anderszewski makes as many waves when he plays as when he does not. At the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1990, he unexpectedly (he was one of the favourites!) walked off stage in the middle of his performance as he was unsatisfied with his playing. This tendency to always surpass himself has served him well. Today he is one of the world’s most highly respected pianists.
