The new year’s celebration, true to tradition, is ushered in with a concert filled with rollicking dance music. This year, the Brussels Philharmonic brings a few surprises, supplementing the traditional waltzes and polkas by the Strauss dynasty with operetta music by Offenbach as well as melodies from the French Romantic repertoire that serve up equal portions of nostalgia and love of life – the unmistakeable influence of conductor Hervé Niquet. With flair and finesse he presents, together with the Flemish Radio Choir, a series of lively rhythms, graceful dance tunes and cheery festivities.
