With regard to the upcoming release of his latest album, pianist Stephane Ginsburgh gives a taste of his work on Sergei Prokofiev’s Nine Sonatas by performing the last two sonatas for the audience at Flagey.

The Eighth Sonata, the last of the so-called "war sonatas", plunges us into the distressing and violent atmosphere of the Stalinist era. The Ninth Sonata, however, shows characteristics of Prokofiev’s earlier musical style: simpler, lighter, more playful and humorous. In short, a programme that fits Ginsburgh like a glove.
