If you listened to Batik with your eyes closed, you might be fooled into thinking that you were hearing one single instrument. For this concert, pianist Wolfert Brederode and drummer Joost Lijbaart – an already successful pairing – return to Flagey with their new collective of musicians from the Dutch jazz and improvisation scene. Together they bring us extremely refined, and yet organic music. Each fragment seems to arise naturally from the previous phrase and, through improvisation, the musicians reveal new horizons and sound atmospheres as if by magic.

August 20, 2014: this "supertrio" came together for the first time for a single but particularly successful concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The Reinier Baas, Ben Van Gelder & Han Bennink Trio is launched! These juniors and senior of the Dutch scene have all earned their medals in the jazz world. Flagey is thrilled to welcome these three great musicians.
