A relaxed duet between on the one hand a charming, melodic violin and on the other a raw, challenging orchestral part – Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto is full of contradictions. That is precisely what makes it so thrilling and a masterpiece. It has certainly earned its position of honour within the genre.

From Russia to the Arab world, with tales from the Arabian Nights: Scheherazade is undoubtedly the best known and most imaginative work by Rimsky-Korsakov.
