Flocking

Brussels Film Festival | Competition

The people who live in this tiny village in northern Sweden all know each other. It might sound idyllic and comforting, but can also be uncomfortably intimate. When15-year-old Jennifer claims to have been raped by a schoolmate, everything changes. The rumour rapidly spreads throughout the community. And more and more people are convinced that Jennifer is lying. This is the beginning of a stirred up lynch chase in which an entire community turns against a young girl and her family. Before long, the brutal collective fury of the entire village is aimed not at the accused boy but at Jennifer, whose testimony they believe has fouled their nest.
Flocking signed by the Swedish director Beata Gårdeler, won the Golden Bear for Best Film in the Generation 14+ section of the Berlin Film Festival.
